The Actors Dilemma of Whether to Buy Health Insurance or Not
Out-of-work actors usually live with a tight budget. They also love the drama of being destitute, so even if affordable short term health insurance quotes are put in front of them, they still think twice. It’s part of being in the industry, and while this may seem funny or charming, it’s dangerous.
The fact is when a person has financial problems such as not earning enough, that’s the time to invest in health insurance. They simply cannot afford to get sick. A short term insurance will cost less upfront but is usually a temporary situation, until the actor can afford a more permanent solution.
Also, they will need this kind of insurance if they have to travel to a pictorial or movie set. For the duration of the contract, it is even more urgent that they protect themselves against possible accidents or illnesses. After all, they could lose the job if they get sick.
There are basic prerequisites to qualifying for short term insurance such as age. Look it up over the internet. Most companies will allow insurance for people up to 65 years of age. The bottom line is to bite the bullet and get the insurance because you will get sick and everyone does.
